A Journey to our new Era

Our Story

It’s taken ten years – and one week – to become Franka. And we couldn’t be more excited

For 10 years we were Project 82.  Born from the passion of our fearless (and fabulous) director Shelley Mason, we began as a boutique furniture store in Surry Hills. From a small shopfront, Project 82 grew a big reputation amongst locals as the home of superbly curated, timeless furniture pieces and sofas made to order in Sydney.

From humble beginnings, Project 82 moved to new premises and expanded to offer its own range of imported and locally produced furniture. We also began working with design professionals who were attracted to the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of our pieces.

In 2020 we brought our passion, design insight and personalised service to our new (forever?) home in Oxford Street Paddington. And, one week ago we revealed our new brand: Franka.

Franka is an evolution of Project 82, and a new era.

Franka means ‘friend’ and this is reflected in our brand values: True, Fearless, Smart and Forever. That’s the kind of friend you want, and that’s the essence of everything we do, everything we sell and everything we are at Franka.

We believe in quality, timeless design that’s crafted with care and made to last.
